Project Description: The 40,000-square-foot Brain Health Center, currently under construction in Columbia, will serve as a state-of-the-art hub for neurological care and research in South Carolina. Designed to support both clinical and research environments, the facility will expand access to advanced diagnostic and treatment services that have previously been unavailable to many residents across the state. As the central hub of the Brain Health Network, the Center will provide comprehensive diagnostic services and supportive management for cognitive conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, while extending its reach through rural clinics statewide.
The building will feature two advanced MRI scanners, including South Carolina’s first ultra-high field 7 Tesla scanner. It will also house a wide-bore 3 Tesla scanner—approximately twice as powerful as standard clinical MRI systems—capable of producing highly detailed brain imaging to support the most complex diagnostic cases.
In addition to its cutting-edge imaging technology, the Brain Health Center will include exam and consultation rooms, as well as dedicated spaces for physical therapy and patient support services. The current plan calls for occupying approximately two floors of the building, allowing room for future growth and expansion.
