Focus on Rural Health
Many South Carolinians live in rural areas without access to primary medical care. Our Florence Regional Campus works to help our future physicians understand the needs of our rural population and find ways to help improve health care in those areas. It's all part of our mission to improve the health of our state.
I saw first-hand the impact a lack of access to health care can have — not just on an individual's life, but on their family and community as a whole.

Community Service
We're training health care providers who are invested in making their communities a better place. Our students have the opportunity to volunteer their time and services at health clinics, raise money to support the Free Clinic and volunteer at events designed to get middle and high school students interested in medicine.
Community Partnerships
Improving our community's health is a big task and we can't do it alone. We partner with organizations throughout the community to ensure our patients get all the support they need.
