Background

Amy Coward has more than 40 years experience in agency, corporate and nonprofit public relations, marketing and fundraising. She is currently serving as the senior director of communications and instructor for the College of Information and Communications and is president of AC Public Relations. Coward is the former vice president of public relations for Prisma Health Midlands Foundation and the former chief operating officer of United Way of the Midlands.

Teaching

Coward brings her many years of professional experience to the classroom using real-world scenarios as teaching opportunities. Her focus is to help students apply the textbook content to current public relations challenges in the profession and learn about the various opportunities within the field.

Service

Coward has nearly 20 years of service with the Public Relations Society of America, including five years of service on the southeast district board and five years of service on the national board of directors. She is currently serving in various capacities with the PRSA College of Fellows.

Personal

Coward is accredited in Public Relations (APR) by the Universal Accreditation Board. She is also a member of the PRSA College of Fellows, an honorary organization with more than 350 senior professionals and educators.
