Compensation for Students - All student employees shall be compensated at their regular hourly rate for all
work-related activities, including meetings, without exception. This ensures consistent
and fair treatment of all student employees, and compliance with federal, state, and
institutional wage laws. If you have questions about the current student minimum wage

Corrective Actions for Student Employees - This framework ensures consistency in addressing student employee misconduct or
inappropriate workplace behavior. The goal is to assist supervisors in applying corrective
action fairly and uniformly across similar situations.
NACE Competencies - Employers within the U.S. evaluate job applicants on holistic measures a demonstration
of skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities required to effectively transition
into the workforce and successfully perform a job. The National Association of Colleges
and Employers (NACE) outlines eight core competencies that employers seek in job applicants.
Performance Management for Students - A performance plan provides students with clear expectations, measurable goals,
and ongoing support, helping them develop time management, self-discipline, and personal
responsibility; all critical skills for academic success and future career readiness.
Student Employee of the Month - Consider nominating a student employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty
for Student Employee of the Month. For a student employee to be eligible, nominations
are due at the end of each month.
Writing a Job Description - A job description should clearly and concisely outline responsibilities, qualifications,
and expectations that match a student's limited professional experience. This handout
will guide you in writing an effective student job description.
