- Join our Pre-Health Listserv to learn about local opportunities
- Obtain health-related certifications at local technical colleges to work in those fields (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
- Reach out to local clinics via email, phone, or the “contact us” page on their website, to see if they offer student observation experiences
- Academically, students should pursue a challenging course of study and maintain good academic standing, especially in courses that are pre-requisites for the desired program. Programs will consider GPA as a portion of the application, but it will not be the only aspect they evaluate.
- For application requirements (e.g. observation hours or direct patient care experience), students should focus on meeting and exceeding those expectations where possible.
- Students should spend time doing things that they are passionate about through research, volunteering, leadership positions, involvement in student organizations, etc. It is more important that students display quality experiences than a large quantity of them.
- Overall: maintain good academic standing and demonstrate growth, dedication, and passion in activities.
There are no specific pre-requisites for pre-law students. Students interested in attending law school should pursue a challenging program of study that emphasizes reading and writing. Students should focus on maintaining a high GPA and scoring well on the LSAT. See the full list of majors and minors available at USC.
