COSTS, FEES, AND BEING ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND SUMMER JAM

Your tuition, meal plan, and housing fees and costs are included at no cost to you.

You will be charged a matriculation fee ($80), and parking fees apply if you bring your vehicle.

Students must place into MATH 111 or MATH 111i by scoring 0-13 on the Math Assessment of Prerequisites (MAP) test.

Please email assess@math.sc.edu to determine if you can retake the MAP test.

You must complete the MAP test by May 16 to be considered for Summer JAM.

You do not have to take the MAP test again for Fall Semester.

Eligible students will be emailed an acceptance letter around May 15, along with a link to complete the commitment form. You must submit the commitment form to secure your spot in Summer JAM.

When you attend Orientation during Summer JAM, it counts towards Fall semester - so you only have to take Orientation once for both Summer JAM and Fall Semester.

Yes, you must register and send in your $250 payment for New Student Orientation (which you will attend on June 23-24).

Parents are not required to attend Orientation, but if they would like to attend they must also pay the $115 Parent Orientation fee.

Yes, but we encourage you to stay on campus to become acclimated to the community, get to know your peers, spend time on your studies, and participate in campus activities.

The absence policy allows you to take one excused absence for MATH111/MATH111i and U101 due to the accelerated course schedule over the six-week program. 

Summer JAM classes will have approximately 20 students each.

Yes.

Yes. To qualify for the stipend, you must complete all components of the Externship.

 

TRANSPORTATION, HOUSING, & ACTIVITIES

Yes. Parking fees will apply if you choose to bring your own vehicle.

Yes. Each Summer JAM participant is required to have a roommate.
