Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning

CIEL Fellows

CIEL Fellows are an integral part of the Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning. Fellows serve as advocates for integrative and experiential learning and provide valuable perspectives and recommendations to CIEL. Fellows support students in developing Graduation with Leadership Distinction ePortfolios and explore the application of integrative learning strategies to their own programs. Fellows collaborate with CIEL and one another to assess student learning and pursue scholarship opportunities including grants, presentations, and publications.

The Faculty Executive Director of CIEL leads recruitment efforts for CIEL Fellows across the Columbia and Palmetto College campuses, and the Staff Director of CIEL coordinates training opportunities related to Fellows’ work with students pursuing Graduation with Leadership Distinction.

Senior Faculty Associate

The CIEL Senior Faculty Associate serves as first point of contact for UNIV 401 course related communications, including coordinating and scheduling classes, ongoing instructor training and recruitment, and evaluation of student learning through ePortfolios.

Palmetto College CIEL Fellows

CIEL initiatives extend beyond the Columbia campus to the four regional campuses at Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter, and Union. CIEL supports a liaison at each campus with a goal to:

  • Serve as the primary contact for the Graduation with Leadership Distinction (GLD) program, including recruiting students to pursue GLD, supporting students in completing the GLD application, providing guidance to students through the GLD ePortfolio process, and teaching or recruiting instructors for UNIV 401
  • Support the facilitation of the Quality Enhancement Plan, including identification of student work samples for assessment processes and indirect assessment methods such as surveys and focus groups, and tracking of student participation in identified beyond the classroom experiences
  • Provide continuous feedback to CIEL and other Palmetto College Fellows to help advance programmatic and institutional goals related to integrative and experiential learning

Students at a Palmetto College campus can contact the CIEL Fellow on their campus:
