McCausland Foundation Programs

The McCausland Foundation programs enhance the student experience in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences by cultivating and retaining talented faculty, attracting visiting scholars and supporting innovation.

The McCausland Foundation programs were established through a $10 million endowment gift from alumnus Peter McCausland (’71 history) and his wife, Bonnie. McCausland, chairman and CEO of Airgas, Inc., sought to strengthen the liberal arts education offered at the University of South Carolina — an education that shaped his own career.

While several programs are currently on pause or being restructured, the McCausland Fellowship continues to support innovative teaching and research. Through this initiative, faculty and students benefit from enhanced opportunities for academic growth and intellectual exploration.

McCausland Faculty Fellowship

The McCausland Faculty Fellowship is a three-year fellowship available to early career faculty who bring innovation to their research and teaching. Fellows explore new areas of research and share findings in their field and beyond.
