NIH does not collect Other Support at the application stage. Instead, Other Support is provided during NIH’s Just-in-Time (JIT) procedure, when an application is being considered for funding. If the reported Other Support changes for any Senior/Key Personnel between the JIT submission and Notice of Award, the applicant is expected to provide an updated support document to NIH.

 

NIH also collects updated Other Support information annually through the Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR). Please pay attention to question D.2.c Changes in other support. If any key personnel have received a new award or completed an existing award, an updated Other Support document should be included in the RPPR.

Who Reports: All Senior/Key Personnel 

What to Report: 

• All current grants, contracts and sponsored projects
• Resources and/or financial support from all foreign and domestic entities that are available to the researcher. Some examples of resources include:
  • Laboratory personnel
  • High value materials such as biologics, model systems or technology

• Consulting agreements
• In-kind contributions

Supporting Documentation: For Other Support submissions that include foreign activities and resources, recipients are required to submit copies of contracts, grants, or any other agreement specific to senior/key personnel foreign appointments and/or employment with a foreign institution as supporting documentation.

UPDATE: NIH will require the new Other Support format for applications, Just-in-Time submissions, and Research Performance Progress Reports with due dates on or after January 25, 2022.  Although NIH extended the required date for use, they expect applicants and recipients to begin using the new format as of May 25, 2021.  For additional information see notice NOT-OD-21-110.
