Automatic data processing (ADP) and other computer services must be research-specific services such as reserved computing time, web conferencing, web services and secure storage of project data. This budget section should not include software, standard desktop office computers, laptops or the standard tech support provided by your institution. Those items are considered part of the university's calculated facilities and administrative costs. USC's Division of Information Technology (DoIT) group offers many IT services available here. 

 

Communication Costs

Investigators may include long-distance phone charges in a proposal budget, but not standard phone service charges. Long-distance phone rates are available on the DoIT website.

In projects where justified, mobile phones and mobile phone service are allowed as an expense. Refer to the sponsor's guidelines.
