University Exchange Partner Programs

Exchange Programs for Fall and AY 26-27 are now open!

*Below are instructions to complete the USC application. You will also be required to submit an application with your host institution. After you are accepted through USC’s application, the Education Abroad Office will send you instructions for completing your application with the host institution.*

Students applying to University of Queensland for Fall 2026 must submit their application by February 14th

Students applying to Bamberg must submit 2 faculty recommendations to our office before applications are accepted. Bamberg applicant recommendations should be from German department faculty who can attest to language ability.

Step 1: Go to the program directory

  • If this is your first time logging into Via, the application database, you will be prompted to sign in using your USC username and password. You’ll also be directed to a data intake form as well as a program match quiz to help match you with a program.
  • If you already know what program you want to do, locate it in the program directory and click the "apply now” link on the top right of the program page.

Step 2: Complete your application requirements

  • Begin filling in the application information. Note that if some fields are gray and cannot be edited, they will be automatically updated once your data is retrieved from the USC Banner System.
  • Upload your USC transcript (unofficial transcripts are accepted)
  • Complete the required essay questions
  • Read and acknowledge the following agreements:
    • Student Agreement and General Statement of Responsibility
    • Covid-19 Waiver
    • Mandatory Overseas Medical Insurance Confirmation
  • Pay the Education Abroad Application Fee $225 (Undergraduate students only)
  • Submit your application

Step 3: Education Abroad will review your application and mark it as “conditionally approved”. You will receive an email confirming your approval with a list of forms to complete. Please note that exchange applications are reviewed after the application deadline of March 1 (fall and academic year programs), May 15 (priority spring applications) or September 15 (spring programs). You will be notified after this date of your acceptance and will be sent a checklist from an education abroad advisor with next steps.

Step 4: Log into your application and complete the required forms.  You will receive an email confirmation for each submitted form.

  • Financial Aid Pre-Screen Form
  • Passport Upload
  • Medical Information
  • Acceptance Letter
  • Education Abroad Approval Form
  • Pre-Departure Information

Step 6: Education Abroad will review your forms. You will receive an email confirmation for each accepted form. Incomplete forms will be sent back to you with directions for completion. When forms have been reviewed and are complete, your application will be moved to “committed” status. Please submit all forms by the stated deadline.

Step 7: Complete the mandatory Safe Check Enrollment. An automatic email will be sent prompting you to complete this step. Additionally, you can keep track of your travel in the Travel Plan section (optional) of your dashboard.

Step 8: After receiving clearance from the Office of Student Conduct, the Education Abroad Office will enroll you in the mandatory overseas insurance coverage as well as the INTL Placeholder Course which keeps your USC enrollment active for your time abroad. When you are enrolled in insurance, you will receive an email from CISI, the insurance provider, with documentation as well as an email from our office with details of your INTL enrollment.

All emails will come from our application database, Via TRM. Please be on the lookout for emails from messages@Via-trm.com. The application system works best on a laptop or desktop computer and with the Google Chrome browser.
